What is Wonde?
Wonde is a 3rd software party provider that connects to 20,000 School Information Management Systems. Many 3rd Party tools that a school uses will connect to Wonde to read and write data from the school management system.
Kura uses Wonde to read the Entire Applicant, Student, Contacts and Employee database and synchronise the employee, student, contact, relationship between contact and student to the Kura Person Profiles, negating the need for any bulk upload of contact, student, student to contact relationship (observer) or employee information.
Considerations
- Wonde does not validate the data, if there is no relationship between passenger and observer it is not identified and the relationship will not be created in kura
- Kura will request access to Students, Contacts, Employees and Applicants, Kura will request all permissions required during the approval process, although some are noted as optional they are required.
- The Kura/Wonde sync is a single Wonde Organisation to Single Kura organisation relationship only, the update will take place each day
- Once Wonde is in use, all updates to profile details must be through Wonde, manual changes to the profile for observers and passengers is blocked with the exception of token ID
- New Starters will only be available when the school has been rolled over unless pre-admission criteria has been met which differs by MIS
- Any contact that has the email_notification = false or court_order=true in the Wonde relationship object will not be created, or if this field is later set to false instead of null or true (in the case of email) the profile will be archived within Kura and all links broken. If court_order is changed from true then a profile will be created
- When sending invitations from Kura to observers consider if you want to send them to all parents or only to those who use your transportation service. If invites are only going to be sent to observers of passengers they must be sent individually.
Existing organisation migration – Current Kura Site
If you are already using Kura and have profiles in use, then a migration is required so that any existing profiles are not archived and created as new. If the migration process is not followed then passenger bookings will be removed and observer accounts will be archived with all links broken.
To enable Wonde for existing customers following process needs to be followed in order:
- Confirm that Wonde is implemented and in use
- Confirm the External_ID in the existing Kura profiles are the same as the MIS ID in Wonde prior to enabling Wonde
- If not, a mapping file will be required to change the Kura External_ID to the one used by the MIS system, this will require the ID currently using in Kura and the one that the MIS system uses for all students. For parents, the email needs to be the same.
- Confirm if the school expects to use Kura for new students prior to rolling the MIS system over to a new academic year
- If so, then then the the pre-admission feature of Wonde will the to be confirmed between Wonde and the MIS provider by the school
- For Wonde to receive pre-admission data from the MIS, several configurations need to be set, this is dependent upon the MIS system, but typically will require the student to be marked as accepted and paid,
- Contact Kura to schedule a migration
- Request Wonde access from within the settings area within Kura, upon doing this an email will be sent to the School Wonde Administrator within the school, typically the IT department
- Once the School Wonde administrator has approved the request and Wonde have completed their data audit Kura will be notified.
- Kura will complete the mapping as per item 2.
- Data will then begin to sync from Wonde over the next 24 hours,
- Caution - Kura attempts to match the data from Wonde against the information that it already holds, if there are still differences between what Kura holds and what the school provides it may need to be resolved manually.
