The below link will take you to a short video guide detailing how to place a booking via the app.
Bookings are created by selecting the 'Bookings' tab at the bottom of the screen:
Select the passenger for whom you wish to make bookings:
Select the desired route. This can be completed via 2 methods. Please note that trips are generally for one direction of travel so returns will need to be booked separately. If there are no routes available to book, a message will come up to advise of this.
Booking Using Route Select
Should you already know which route and stop you already require, you can select the 'Route Select' option.
You will need to select your preferred start date of travel from the calendar. Please note that by default this will show as the current day. You will then be able to select the route that you require from the scrollable drop-down list by tapping the route box.
Once this has been chosen, select the stop where you want the passenger to board (From or orgigin) and disembark (To or destination). Once you have selected the desired stops you will be able to view them on the map by selecting the pink map item. Please note that this will only be available once a stop has been selected.
Once you have selected your correct route stops, please press confirm.
Booking Using Address Search
If you are unsure of which stop or route would be suitable for you, you now have the option to use 'Address Search'
When first picking this option, please note that you will be prompted to confirm your permission for Kura to access your location. If you do permit this, you will also be asked to confirm your permission for physical activity:
If you do grant permission for this, your current location will be automatically populated as your 'From' or origin location
If you do wish to find a route from a different location, you can select the origin input where you can search by street address, postcode or point of interest
When you find the location you wish to base your search on, you can tap on this and this will be saved for your 'From' or origin. You will then be taken back to the address search screen and you will see the location chosen marked on the map by the pink dot.
You also now take the option to save addresses as well for a quicker searching process. Please note that this will not create a new stop on the route but instead is used to quickly save your own address to search and find the closest stop.
To create this when clicking on the origin option, you can select the add address button, you can then search and enter your address. Once you have found the correct address, tap on this. You will then be prompted to enter in a familiar name for this address.
Once created, you will be able to view this and select this when searching for your routes. You are then able to edit the address by selecting the pencil icon. You are able to remove this by pressing the 3 dots next to the name and select the delete button.
Once you have selected your address through either method and then selected your disembarking point, the app will then display the routes that have stops within a 5-mile radius of the origin and destination locations.
By default, the start date is the current date. This can be changed by selecting the calendar icon which will then open a calendar where you can select the first date of travel
Once you have updated the date, this will show all routes that have those available from the date selected.
If there are no routes available within a 5-mile radius, a message will display to advise this.
You can select a route to preview it on a map. Stops will be suggested based on proximity to the entered origin and destination locations and highlighted on the map; in pink for boarding and blue for disembarking. The stop list can be expanded to view stop names and arrival and departure times:
This can also be minimised to view the stop locations on the map and zoom to view stop locations in more detail:
If you would like to change the suggested stop(s), or see other stops on the route, you can select the edit icon for either boarding or disembarking:
This will open the stop list, showing arrival times, and the stop locations will be displayed on the map. The stop list can also be minimised to zoom into the stop locations on the map:
You can then select their preferred stop location for boarding, disembarking or both. Available disembarking locations will be shown based on the boarding location selected:
Once stops are selected, the summary in 'Your Journey' will be updated to display the selected stops and their arrival times. You can then select the 'Next' button to proceed:
You will then be given the option on how you wish to place your booking. You can either select 'All available trips' or 'Custom schedule'.
By selecting 'All available trips' you can for example book the whole academic year, where school holidays are automatically excluded by Kura.
By selecting 'Custom schedule' you can book a specific date range. Once the date range has been selected, choose the required days of the week. Select the repetition of the booking if required and select any dates you wish to exclude from the schedule. Select CONFIRM
Kura will check for availability. If your request can be accepted your booking is held for 15 minutes and you will be asked to review and confirm the details to secure the booking:
‘Unavailable Trips’ will show any dates where the booking could not have been made, due to a lack of capacity for example. To obtain a detailed explanation as to why the booking cannot be placed, please click on the arrow next to ‘Unavailable Trips’:
Once confirmed you should see the confirmation message:
Please note that trips are generally for one direction of travel so returns or PM journeys will need to be booked separately by repeating the above process.
